Phrasal Verbs: Lesson 14

picnic.jpg

Alicia: Leo, when are we going on a picnic? You promised we'd go today!
Leo: I'm sorry, Alicia. We can't go today. It's so clouded over! It might rain.
Alicia: Okai... But if it clears up later, promise me we will go!

***

Tim: Can I borrow your car?
Robin: No way! Remember last time? You must be crazy.
Tim: Cool down! Don't be so mad, I won't touch your car.

***

Nana: Look at the trees! They froze over ar night.
Lucy: Yeah. It looks really beautiful. Especially now when it brightened up, and the sun is shining!

[Example Passage]
I have seen the weather forecast on TV this morning. It was said that the sky would be clouded over. The weather man said that at noon it would clear up. I thought I'd wait until it brightens up to go shopping. However, I'll need to bring a scarf with me because it will cool down in the evening. I guess if the temperature falls even lower, my car will freeze over tonight.
